Nashville, TN – Clay Street Unit has signed with Monument Records, a joint venture with Sony Music. The Denver- based six-piece band is fronted by lead singer and guitar player, Sam Walker. His soulful vocals, supported by the sounds of pedal steel, banjo, mandolin, acoustic guitar, bass, and drums melds bluegrass, country, folk and mountain music to create a sound that is entirely unique to the band.

“Signing Clay Street Unit is about more than their rootsy soulful style of country music,” says Monument Records GM Katie McCartney. “It’s about their authenticity and tenacious spirit, their live shows and relatable story. These guys are the real deal, salt of the earth, and we’re thrilled to be helping elevate their sound for the world to hear.”

“Over the years as a band, we’ve been so fortunate to meet some amazing musicians and really come up in the Denver music scene one step at a time,” says Sam Walker, lead singer of the band. “It was a lot of betting on ourselves, but we couldn’t be more grateful to be at this point in our careers. It was clear from the first meeting  that the team at Monument was on the same page as us, as far as what we want to accomplish and what it’s going to take to get there. We are so excited to be working with such a great team that has a pulse on the Americana and Country scenes, and, who we feel, really care about what the future looks like for us.”

After years cutting their teeth in Denver music scene, Clay Street Unit has developed a fierce following. They have watched audiences double, then triple, as they return to the beloved venues of Colorado like Cervantes Ballroom, and soon, Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Even before the band gathered in Denver from places like Montgomery, Charlottesville, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and DC, they were listening to bands like Sturgill Simpson, Turnpike Troubadours, The Infamous Stringdusters, and Leftover Salmon. Recently some of those influences have become collaborators, and collaborators have become friends.

Three of the songs that keep bringing fans back for more are available today on an EPcalled Introducing Clay Street Unit . Sam and mandolin player Scottie have been writing songs together since the band formed, with Sam writing two of the songs on the EP, and the last being a fan favorite cover of The Last Revel’s “Engine Trouble.”  “Introducing” marks the first release to come out of the new partnership with Monument Records and highlights several of the much-loved tracks the band has been playing on the road into one project.
