NASHVILLE, TN – Denver-based sextet Clay Street Unit has released their new single “Let’s Get Stoned,” the first brand new music on their label, Monument Records who just signed the band in December. The easy-going, roots-infused song tells the story of a couple going through tough times, but through it all they still have each other. The story is told through the warm and weathered voice of lead singer/songwriter Sam Walker, who penned the endearing, cinematic narrative. “Throughout this record, there’s an underlying idea of enjoying a simple life on your own terms,” Walker says. “That’s what ‘Let’s Get Stoned’ is about. It’s a sweet, heartfelt love song about two people who don’t have much…but what they do have is enough.”
Clay Street Unit formed in Denver in 2021, with band members hailing from a wide range of areas including Montgomery, AL, Charlottesville, VA, Atlanta, GA, Philadelphia, PA, Denver, CO and Washington DC. Their various backgrounds and influences inform their blend of folk, rock, bluegrass, country, and Appalachian music. The group honed their craft playing around the Denver and Colorado music scene as word spread about their electrifying live performances, and audiences grew quickly.
The band will have more new music to come, and will hit the road this spring, which will include a co-headlining tour with bluegrass outfit Shadowgrass. Clay Street Unit will play a number of festivals that include DelFest, The Big Ponderoo, Hogs For The Cause, and Red Bluff. The band will make their debut at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre, supporting Kitchen Dwellers and Leftover Salmon in May. See full list of dates below.
